Merbok town is located in Kuala Muda district, Kedah and is about 23 km from Sungai Petani town.

The town's name derived from sanskrit word,"merbok" which means 'place'. In other words, the name of Town-Merbok has no connection with a bird name merbok in the Malay language.

It was formerly only a small fishermen's settlement and the heritage, the area has become quite developed with various facilities to be many visitor attractions and great benefit to the population. 

Places of  Interest :

Lembah Bujang, the oldest civilazation in Penisular Malaysia is also located here, where home to the remains of a Hindu-Buddhist kingdom in the 5th Century AD.
